Could someone PLEASE help me with this, maybe i didnt explain myself well, i want to send out emailed "invite a friend" letters, when i tried it out sending one to myself, it arives with a "forumation blah blah blah" subject heading, this heading in my opinion is just going to prompt a deletion responce, i simply wish to change this, please could i have some responce from someone in the know, even if its just a "can't be done" answer.

    Thanks.

    invite a friend Hello

I am sorry for the delay in responses to your problem, it's just most of us who help out are a tad busy with Christmas in a fortnight invite a friend Ohwell

I've just done some testing of my own, with the impression that you were sending to contacts via email address.
    Email NOT Webmail.

Results with a live(.com.au) email address:

On the "sender" bar it shows up with ur name, and "Forumotion: URL OF YOUR FORUM Forum invitation"

Is that what it shows up for you as well?

As far as changing what show up ( by that I mean changing the "Forumotion: URL OF YOUR FORUM Forum invitation" part ) I don't think it is possible because it would require DataBase access.

I've had a look in the templates, and by the looks of things there's a spot for editing it by the coding does look like it has some access into the DB ( DataBase ).

So, I'm sorry but you can't change it.....but I'll look into this code for you now and see what I can do for ya Wink

EDIT: Sorry Ive changed what I can, and it doesn't look like I can change the message titles invite a friend Icon_redface

Thanks very much Darren, that is what i'm getting. I do think this "Forumotion: URL OF YOUR FORUM" Forum invitation isnt going to be met with a positive responce from the people we are looking to take the invite, so if it could be looked at i think it would be a good thing.

    Oh that.
No you cant change that.Who ever you send the invites too have the right to know the message is coming from your forum. if you where able to change the address then you would have people create forums for the soul purpose of spamming others continuously and being able to change the return address. forumotion would never allow this.

My suggestion would be if you want to invite others but do not want to have your forum address as the return address where the message is coming from?would be to just use your own email account.. or create another one for this.. other then that any invites from your forum will have your forums address as the return address and where the message is coming from.

As i see it, its not a return address, its a "subject bar". I would much rather place an interesting subect in this area that a boring "Forumotion: URL OF YOUR FORUM", doesnt exactly inspire the invited to pop along and read more, IMHO.

    Thanks anyway.

Yes it's in the subject bar but your title shows up first.

i have just sent my self a test email to see exactly what is sent.

it followed.. my title. Testing 123 ?(then over on-the side it has) Forumotion then my link.

So your title is there first.. but there is no way to take out Fourmotion. then your link next to it.. thats just how forumotion has it set up.i belive this is for spamming purposes.

but like i said.. you can always invite people from your email account or create one for this. it dose not have to be done through forumotion if you do not wish to.. So it's up to you if you want to use it or not. i actually prefer useing the social network invite from forumotion.. i have to test it but i am sure your forums link will be in them messages as well.

there is a glitch with this feature right now. the techs are aware of the problem and trying to work it out. we just have to try to be patient and wait for them to fix it completely
