I was just reading a query by a user regarding the said title. I too feel Forumotion, can have the option of choosing the domain for more than one year. It could be atleast upto 10 years.

This will help the users not to worry, that their domain will be gone after a year or will be up for sale for someone else.

well this would be great but $8.50 - $10.00 is the average amount of money to even bring in a profit from a domain name.

but forumotion is way to expensive with there Domain names. (it should be lowered)

Because i saw too many users posting in french support forum crying because they thought they had definitely lost their own DNS.
Hopefully Forumotion protects for a few days DNS just expired.

Then you'll definitely have to pay more. Because it's about $8.99 per year for a .com domain.

I'm pretty sure it's all GREED over here...C'mon guys. Think it as on Forumotion owner's views. $16 for 10 years? Are you kiddin' me? I mean c'mon , that's ridiculous.
I mean buying a domain for 10 years all along with a discount and $16 for 10 years are two different things!
I'll not vote , probably because even if it gets around 5k "YES" , the people who own forumotion won't agree and I won't be surprised at all , if they dis-approve a suggestion like this.

Even if I don`t buy a domain name before I voted yes because it`s a very good idea. If I want to buy a domain, I would not be worried that it will expire.

Obviously the price won't be $ 16 for 10 years, obviously the prices goes up high. Why would anyone sell it for the same price as 1 year? scratch I think that was obvious.

Many registrars allow you to book it for 5 years or even more sometimes. If you intend to work with your forum for a longer time, you will definitely book the domain for a longer period.

Hopefully this option can be incorparated within then next 3-6 months. I have 2 forums to deal with and never want my domains to expire. To me it will be worth the few extra dollars to continue to renew my domains.
BTW peeps support forumotion, purchase your domain through them. Well worth the money.

It is standard practice for domain registrars to give you mutlple year options on your domains. I don't know why forumotion haven't already done this.

All hostings makes pay the domain once a year, i dont know any hosting that let you have your domain during 10 years without ask you for paying aggain.

Is like an universal rule, and I think is OK, and besides, as you said, if you could have your domain during 10 years, the price would be too expensive...

I will not vote, but I prefer the actual system, notice about all that the price would be increased a lot if you could buy each domain for 10 years...

Voted yes, however I see a problem to this. What if the forum founder purchased their domain for up to 10 years and within 5 years decides to leave forumotion, then what? How would they get their domain name back without some hassle from forumotion?
