Thanks for your reply. I have been communicating with Typlo via pm. It appears this is some sort of action taken against illegal file sharing on the forumotion platform. I am not a web designer and, therefore, have no clue as to what type of restriction/change was made.
It was suggested that I use a file host which requires me to either purchase the service (I have already purchased two others to circumvent this) or use the free version which would require my clients/members to wait 45 seconds prior to each download beginning.
http://linkto.net/?16808937054d2bf51ad20be9.04772931As stated, I am not a web designer and have no clue as to what type of change was made but, if the change(s) were, in fact, in response to illegal file sharing I fail to see how the change prevented such. In any event, such actions should have been dealt with differently by either deleting/banning the users who engage in such activity or, in the alternative, offering those of us who paid to use forumotion the opportunity to withdraw our forum including a full refund.
I do not understand how the forumotion platform could have been used to any significant extent for illegal file sharing and how causing some file hosting sites to appear as the image above could prevent such. If file hosting sites were being used to host the illegal files then the issue is with the file host. Unless the file host can somehow be completely blocked via forumotion then the efforts appear to be useless.
At the very least, forumotion members should have been notified that such changes were going to take place and the opportunity to withdraw. Whether some realize it or not, those of us who purchase our domain via forumotion pay nearly 6 times the amount the same domain could be purchased in other places. I, personally, chose forumotion because of the support and expected improvements and not regress.
