Upgrading from phpBB to phpBB 2, can it be done? Empty Upgrading from phpBB to phpBB 2, can it be done?

    Hi,

I run http://www.greenmustangsregistry.com/forum and I would like to upgrade to phpBB 2 if it possible or do I have to create a new forum and have everyone join over there?

I am currently trying to remember how to remove the ad on top of the forum and I saw I could do template edits with phpbb 2 so I figured it be best if I upgraded to make it easier.

Another question is whether or not I am allowed to run my own ads like Google Adsense and Chitika on the forum?

    Thank you for your help.

on My forum (phpbb2) you can change the theme version in Themes (admin, display, skins, choose a theme, then click the version tab) - is there this option on your version?

    Hi,

Lisa has provided the instructions to change your version.

The reason you see the PHPBB text, and not a specific version or other PHPBB copyright is because our coding is based on PHPBB2 coding, and it called SITU Coding.
So yea, PHPBB2 & PHPBB3 both display only the text "PHPBB" simply so forumotion doesn't get closed down because of copyright abuse Wink

hi that makes sense so I can convert from phbb1 to 2 right in the themes? Is there anyway to keep the same template I currently have?

To edit templates, your forum version must be phpBB 2 or punBB. There is no such thing as phpBB 1 or phpBB alone. Use lisa's instructions above to change your version if you're not on either phpBB 2 or punBB. Smile
