Forum posting permission Empty Forum posting permission

Post by icandyxan April 15th 2011, 2:32 am

Some of my members are allowed to post and some are not. Initially I thought they were accessing the forum through mobile verision. Classic view fixed this problem for a couple of people, but not all. I'm extrememly confused on the way the ACP is set up as far as forum access, user group set up and access, and individual permissions. Is there a way I can just automatically give access to new members to post on all topics instead of individual setting forum permissions, then giving each user permission on each forum? I also have the Forum Locked icon on my forum and yes, I check the holiday settings and it's not activated. I'm not sure how to resolve these issues without going through each individual profile and granting access, then each individual forum and doing the same.

You will need to set permissions for each section you have. You can use group and have people see certain things which having to set permissions for user one by one. Groups

You can also have auto groups so people can join a group when they reach a certain post count.

Thanks for your response. I followed the link about setting up auto groups, because I manually set all the forums for members to be able to post, and it still doesn't work that way. For the auto group, I'm I understanding correctly that I have to set the post minimum at "1" because "0" will not work? And if that's correct, how will that work if no existing member is even able to make that initial post right now? Is that for new member only from the time I set up the group going forward? And I'm assuming I'll have to manually add the existing members, but not sure that will solve the issue of them not being able to post.
