My friend, you explained a little difficult, but somehow using my instinct. I coudnt understand what you meant Purple from gold, So i thought you mean Gradient, Your characted pic would ruin the overlay, so i Blacke and white'd it. The background you sent me is unfitting, but i used something really similar. here is the result:
