    The title pretty much explains it all. I want member of a group to be able to view the topics in a forum, but not individual posts.

    yes it is. go to admin panel ->General -> Catogries and forums.
    select the forum you want to set the permisions to and click on the allow members of a group to view topics but not posts. Perms permission image.
    now you can set your permissions for that group.

    You mean, you want the user to see the first post ? But not the replies? Then its not possible.

    If you want to let the user see the threads in the forum, but not the individual threads of the forum. You can set the permissions of a forum in such a way.
    It should be checked for View the Forum.
    Unchecked for Read the Topics.

    That should help.
