Solved Reporting an abuse, Reply ASAP Please

    Post by msedgley 19/8/2011, 07:24

Someone had reported an abuse on my forum, stating that we had copyrighted posts from their forum and images. I have no idea who had reported the abuse only that he signed the report dave. I got thinking and the only thing i could think of that i had copied was a post which i gave credit for at the bottom of the post re directing to their forum. No images have been copyrighted they have either been gfx resources which i am allowed to use or things i have made myself. I removed the post into my archive folder just as i was slightly worried. Should i be worried, i did not copyright anything and the post i used i gave credit for?

    Thanks

msedgley, the report abuse function just goes to the administrator of the forum (you and anyone else in the adminstrator group). Only the litigation goes to forumotion.

Simply quoting a text post is not copyrighted, nor illegal, as long as you reference it. People have been reposting posts since those dialup forum boards were invented!

And no, you should not be worried unless you copied a post and claimed it as your own, or are using graphic resources from their forum. Which you stated you are not.

But seeing as you did state that there aren't any stolen graphics, and you did credit their post, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Just toss it in the "Done abuses" and forget about it Wink

    Hope it helps.
