    Solved Automatic Topic Watching

    Post by PT-Desu November 8th 2011, 3:51 pm

I know i can disable Topic watching (being emailed for new replies) in the preferences and that is already disabled.

But my concern is the default post options.

    Automatic Topic Watching Sdv6df

This should be something set by the user and not set on as default.
If a user disables the option in the preferences does the Topic default options become invalid ?

If not, how do i make that box unchecked as default ?

    and a small side question

Does the forum have a automatic function that closes threads on or close to 1000 posts ?

If your members chose not to always allow sigs and not to be sent emails/topic notification in their profile preferences, then it should not be on the subject board by default.

As far as closing a topic, there is a cut off point, but the thread will automatically just start a new one to continue in.

I'll have to see if i can find what the amount is before it dose that.

Yes, it seems that disabling in the preferences have worked nicely.

as for the Topics closing and starting on their own, one topic closed for me on 990 posts.

yeah thats what it is 990,

what i would do if that happen to one of my post, is i would edit the first post of the thread, and the last post of the thread, and add a small message saying the thread has continued in another location then add the link.
I would also make the old thread a sticky or announcement as well, but it's up to you how you want to do it.

I would like to be able to set another post count as a limit, or even disable it altogether and let admin or mods close threads and create a new one.

But from the options that i see in the admin panel it doesn't seem possible, unless im looking in the wrong place.
