Footer Removal? Empty Footer Removal?

Post by mw3vsg January 17th 2010, 4:27 pm

I would like to suggest the option to remove the links to the Forum on the footer? Maybe an option of paying a yearly fee to remove the links?

Anyone interested? I'd love to see it on my forum...

If you paid to remove it (yearly fee): Then yes, good idea

If you mean remove it for free: No, unfair to Forumotion

Its not possible. Its part of the ToS that you signed up for. Those links are the copyright links for the software.

the link to phpBB is a legal mention, same as the link back to ForuMotion. normally, you don't play around with it unless you're asking for some nutter to come on your case for legal infringement and have your forum closed.

A suggestion to remove the other links from the footer, why not, but not the ones mentionned

Voted no...

And I don´t think it will never get real, cause, as it was said before, footer links are part of Forumotion copyrigth.

This suggestion is like if you say:

"It would be nice to host illegal content if you pay"

Of course its a non-sense suggestion, because Forumotion has his own ToS, and it won´t change for anyone, not mind if you pay or not.

I'm voting No.

I'm with ForuMotion, a free forum provider, (hypothetical, but still correct!)even if I had brought my domain with them for 10+ years, and brough gallery space for 10+ years, the forum is STILL free, and NOT owned by myself.

I chose a provider I liked,, and since jhave stuck with it. If you like something, surely you flaunt it? lol
Are you not proud to be with a free forum host & provider?

How do you propose to make your free forum a paid forum with forumotion?
You don't.
You only pay for addition features - the domain & storage.

Paying for them DON'T make the forum a paid forum.

I pay real hard earned money too... well I did for a domain, and that was directed to my forum, it still didn't make my forum a paid forum.....

Heres a CSS code you can use and not break the TOS.

Code:
#gfooter {
   margin: 8px 0;
   padding: 0.5em;
   text-align: right;
   font-size: 0.01em;
   background-color: #464c55;
   color: #fff;
   }

The code makes the footer very small print to almost nothing is there but it is there very small and in code.

I don't mind footer links, I don't pay attention to them, but the only thing I hate is that is this... They are too big... check these, in serbian translation is even bigger

Free forums | © PunBB | Pop Muzika | Besplatan Forum međusobnog pomaganja | Statistike | Kontakt | Signalizirajte zloupotrebu | Kreirati svoj blog

They just take too much space. It'd be good If we could keep forumotion.com instead of free forums and © PunBB. I think that's enough to give credit to them for allowing us to create something like this. So, yes, I vote yes.

I don't mind it saying "Powered by forumotion" but it doesn't need to spam.

Any kind of ways on editing the footer still breaks the forumotion TOS, it's considered editing it.

How is that considered editing it. The code is still in the HTML and still crawled by the net. Just the size of the links/words are small which is only changing the text size, hardly considered editing or breaking TOS. Tos says you must not REMOVE it from your forum, which that code does no remove it just makes it smaller.

Heres what that code does.
Footer Removal? Captureaa

so as you see links are still there and functional, just text is smaller.

You are not supposed to hide the forumotion & phpBB link in the footer, Wink

If you do, then you're breaking the terms of service. ( read the last paragraphs of the terms )

Not hiding anything you can see links are there just cant read them due to smaller text size. And the TOS says nothing about altering text size, just says you cant change the text words/letters.
