When we ban users for a long period they doesnt remember when they can go into the forum aggain, so they will not go back to the forum, because they don´t remember when the ban period ends.

So my suggestion is that when a ban period ends (so the user can go into the forum aggain), an automatic email will be sent to his email adress, saying something like:

Dear [NICKNAME]

Remember your ban period in [FORUM URL] has ended, so you can log into your forum account when you want, but don´t forget to respect forum rules for not being banned aggain

I think it's a good idea!
But, I must say, if a user was banned long enough that they would forget the forum, they must have done something pretty bad xD Are you sure that you'd want him back?

Had to vote yes as some people on my site regularly email to ask when they are unbanned, and they are only short bans!

That's a really good idea and would be most useful for them, instead of you having to go out finding out how to contact them.

Well on my forum a member can be given a temporary ban which is only for a short time,from a day,few days,to one month.
It's either that, or a permanent ban which means permanent.
So we don't have such a thing as a long term ban(six months to a year on my forum.)
No I don't think this is needed.As you can email the member yourself if you decide to lift their long term or permanent ban.
