add mail link to nav bar Empty add mail link to nav bar

Post by jaebaeli January 15th 2008, 2:19 am

I;m trying to add an email link to my nav bar, so that members can contact me easily at my direct mail. I am using this type of code:
<a href="mailto:email@address.com">Text For Link Here</a>
in the admin panel under add a link...but it's not working.
Can you tell me how to make this link work so that it opens up their default mail program to send an email?
thanks.

have you tried already just "mailto:email@address.com"? i mean without the html-tags...

if that doesnt work, you could still do it so they pm you when clicking the button... Smile

if u want to have direct contact u can allow contact by mail in your profile. The users can contact u directly. I think u should not post your email address outside. The spammers will get it and you will receive lots of spam mails.

Thanks, but no one answered the question.

Yes, i have tried just the "mailto:" without the other coding.

I am aware of the other issues; and i DO NOT use PM's because my boxes fill up too fast and it's too hard to archive. I have reasons for doing things the way i do them. What i want to know, is my original question:

How do I add my email link to the navigation bar?

I told jaebaeli, about adding adding mail link in your nav bar. But you dont noticed or not understood.

if u want to have direct contact u can allow contact by mail in your profile. The users can contact u directly. I think u should not post your email address outside. The spammers will get it and you will receive lots of spam mails.

To make the email link in the navigation bar it is easy. Just use headers in the admin>>general>> Make one more heading and name it Email Me. or whatever. Now try to look you email link which you can see in your profile but to see that you must have enable the "contact by email form" in your profile.

Do this it will work 99% and will give solution to your 90% problems.

But a problem is that only reg. members can contact you. Ok

but how could i know if you don't respond? Wink Admittedly, the direct "mailto" thing didn't work... obviously...

anyway, what hitesh said is partly correct. You can put the email link into the NavBar button, BUT you have to take the link of the "Website Form". You will get a link as below that you can use:

http://URL of your forum.com/profile.forum?mode=email&u=YOUR USER NUMBER

Your user number is normally 1 if you are the founder of the board. to find out, hover your mouse over your name somewhere in your forum and take the last number in the link that appears at the bottom of your browser. Wink

The New Button will be also visible for unregistered members and guests.
