How can I add a welcome message to the portal page please?

Sorry! At the moment I have a forum portal that displays snippits of what is on the main forum section, as well as the calender, scrolling bit etc.

I am wondering if it is possible to add somewhere into this a sort of welcome message to casual visitors, as this is the first part of the forum they see.

Yes you can. Go to admin panel=>Modules=>Portal & Calendar=>Portal Pages management click on the "Structure" button. On the next page click on the "create a custom block" button and add all the required info. In the "Block source" box you can add your message. Then click on Save and go back to the structure of the portal. Look for the "Addition/deletion of personal modules" section and choose the module you just created form the modules drop down menu. Choose a location where it will be placed in the portal form the location drop down menu and then click on the " Add the module" button.
