Domain won't fully Expire Empty Domain won't fully Expire

Post by lizargeco June 11th 2012, 5:51 pm

My site was offered a free domain name from forumotion, and so we accepted it. When it came time to renew it, we raised some funds, but we didn't have enough, and so we decided to let it expire, for now. But for some reason, the domain won't fully expire: when new users register for our site, they get activation links that include the old domain name. In other words, they can't sign up, because these activation links lead to a domain that no longer exists.

This is very frustrating and we've looked all through the Admin Panel without being able to find out the origin of this error. The variable FORUMLINK also connects users to the now expired URL. Is there anything that we can do or is there a problem with the system?

Could you change the new account activation to Admin & you could activate the users.

I will ask Leeloo, what she knows about this.

Edit: Also, what do you see here?
General>Forum>Forum Address
Personalized domain name tab
Can you post the screenshot of it?
If it shows Force the URL redirection : Choose NO & Save.
See if that changes anything?

I know how to manually activate users - this can be done even if activation is set to "user" simply by activating inactive members.

As for what's on the Forum Address page:

"Currently, your forum address is : theremcom.megabb.com"

This is the correct URL, the one that works. The quick modify URL thing shows the same thing. Metas/categories don't show anything URL related.

Now, if we go to the Personalized Domain tab, we see this:

"Your domain name godaqw.com is already a customized domain name.
Domain Name : http://www.godaqw.com"

This domain is supposed to have expired. The Force URL thing is set to "No," this was one of the first things we did after the custom domain is said to have expired.

lizargeco, we would now need to wait for a response from Leeloo. She is possibly unavailable today, but she will respond tomorrow if not today.
