hidden subforum problem Empty hidden subforum problem

i have never had this problem before but im stumped!

I have many hidden forums which only allow certain groups to see, post etc. For some reason the new subforum within these forums are showing in the latest posts. I thought we had a private option but that seems to not be there either. I also tried putting it under groups but then regular members of the group couldnt see it. can you help please. Thanks
