Errors Appearing When Adding Profile Fields

I have been having a reoccurring problem when I am adding in Profile Fields for my system that I am working on, which is Achievements. Recently, I have been getting an error saying "Error during Field Configuration" , and it will take me 2-3 times before it will work properly, and that it will save properly. I'm not sure because I have so many that it just can't handle saving it or what, but could you tell me a way to get around this?

I stand to be corrected here, but could you have possibly hit the maximum number of possible profile fields?

As an alternative to giving Achievements this way, you could try using a text zone modifiable only by Admins instead, then using BBcode image tags to simply award Achievements. It's more efficient and you can give an unlimited amount of awards.

Could you give me an example or two as to how I would begin that? It sounds like that would work, but I just need a base to start all of that out.
