'Important topics' widget for portal

Hey guys,

I run a site that involves teaching new users how to play a management game.

We have written guides, and made calculators. Having these accessible upon login would be fantastic but I'm not sure how to do it.

I was thinking of putting a blog, or news section there. But that would take up a lot of otherwise needed space.

Any advice appreciated.

How about adding the links of these important topics in a forum widget?
You can change the permission of this widget for only members to be able to see.

I added the widget so it's displayed on the side of the board (like how you have 'SHORTCUTS' on the right), which helps a lot. That's showing the 'blog' in a small column.

Shortcuts would also be fantastic, as it's simplified and easy to navigate. Is there any widget that can add it in a similar fashion to what you've got?

Is it possible to implement some javascript into the code so that, upon logging in or clicking on 'home' the forum jumps straight to a category?
