Mobile version Empty Mobile version

Post by rmayhew December 10th 2013, 18:16

Hi there,

So when i view my board from a mobile phone (iphone5) it doesnt let me login or change the forum to the classic version, where as other forums do such as the forumotion help forum also lets me do this.

Its really hard to navigate my forum on my phone

Any ideas how to fix this?

I know that issue from my forum, too.

I'm working on a script that nicely asks mobile users to decide if they want to stay on the mobile version or go to the desktop one.

Also, go to your forum's home page and enter "?mobile" at the end of the URL. Other links you might want to use are "/login", "/privmsg?folder=inbox" and "/privmsg?mode=post".

I know, I know. I have no clue yet as to why this occurs on some forums and not on others as I have no JavaScript console on my phone... I doubt there even is one as advanced as Google Chrome's for my phone, anyway.

So, short story summary, I can offer you a script to ask the user if he wants to change to the desktop version once, store a cookie if he/she refuses and never ask again.

Hello

Forumotion knows that mobile version is not on the top.
This is on our short list of updates.

Thanks for your understanding.

could you pm me the script as I have several users who seem to be suffering with this problem.

I do not know if this is helpful or not, but it appears to have started after I deleted the portal from my forum and recreated it.

that of course may just have been a coincidence. some sorted their problems by clearing the cache but a few still have issues

ps
just told my members about it and the ?mobile option has worked for them

I'm working on it. It's not a really urgent problem that needs a fix instantly, so I'm not finishing it before I thoroughly test it.

no problem as the ?mobile option seems to work, but if and when you finish it then feel free to PM it
