    First topic message reminder :

If Hollywood makes a movie based on a book, do you read the book or do you watch the movie?  Why?  If you end up doing both, which one do you do first and why?

I learned that reading the book is usually better than the movie and it makes me extremely paranoid when movies don't follow really good books, so now I just roll with whatever. Live The Fifth Wave? I read that book. The movie is still in its wrapping XD

    Hello,
I have to post something so I find your question interesting.
For me doing things randomly is a habit, so I guess whatever suits me at a time. Books are always better somehow but I'm partially in the film industry so I have to follow up.

    I love you

Depends how much you like it first time. No matter how much movie follows book, it can't give you 100% of book.

This seems like a fun discussion. being the comic book geek that I am, I am always on the fence on book or movie. As an example, I loooove the marvel cinematic universe, but the movies loosely and I mean loosely and if at all follow the comics, and that's what I like about the movies, its different , possibly something new.

Then there are movies from book series like the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, love the books, movies are hot garbage, so there's that.

Movie vs. Book? - Page 2 Empty I choose the movie first

    Post by nguyenloc2k2 January 12th 2024, 12:38 pm

I'd choose to watch the film first as it offers a more accessible visual experience. However, I appreciate both mediums, and I'd follow up by reading the book to delve deeper into the narrative and explore additional details that the film may not capture.

It depends on the book and movie.   Some movies that are adapted from books are changed.  For example:  The book has many characters, but sometimes one or more  characters are combined in the movie.  I have also seen where the movie has a different plot then the book.
