Hacking Attempt

As I was installing the portal on my forum, a white screen came up with the words 'Hacking Attempt' in black. Does this mean someone was trying to get into my forum, or that the forum thought that I was hacking into it?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think somebody was hacking or just a liitle prank or something.

Are you experiencing any problems with your forum now? Changes, additions to admin staff, etc?

How about your computer itself? Is your homepage on your browser changing and such.

Might be a good idea to run some scans on your Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware programs and an online scan for such things, as your computer could possibly be infected as well. And if u don't already have one, get yourself a firewall.

I have a firewall and ran anti-spy and anti-virus immediately after. There have been no changes it was just strange... it only happened the once but it worried me a little.

As it should! Before I started support here I was helping out with security support such as Malware Removal forums, which I still do a little. So popups such as that can mean something. Sometimes they are a trick to get people to download something to help them get rid of something, or clean their computer, but the truth is, that is the real infection.

Anyway, please keep us updated if you see any changes to your forum. Also, check your email to make sure it was not compromised as well. The one you used to register your forum, that is. And possibly change the password, if you are concerned. Using a hard to guess password is always imperative. Using letters and numbers, but nothing that someone would guess normally. Mix them up a lil bit.
