Post by Rabit-davsan November 29th 2006, 9:50 pm

Hi everyone,
first of all i'd like to say thanx to editboard team for letting me create my own forum. However i am having problems with creating a portal. I do not really understand what portal works for, i thought that the selected modules would of appeared on my forum. I have tried adding a clock to my forum and i thought i did but when i checked my forum as a visitor it was not there, even if i click on "Preview Forum" i can still not see it. I dont really understand what it works for, am i ment to be seing it or not ? Confused

hI Caihlem, Thank you for your quick reply. You can now find my forum address in my profile.

Pafl3a, thank you for your advice but i have already read the rules on this forum and unfortunatly it weren't usefull for my problem. I have checked this forum if anyone else has the same problem with me so that i can read and get help but that didn't work either. Yes, i have also gave it a couble of minutes after editing my forum, however it was still the same. Sad

if you whan to show the clock on the all pages from the forum then you need to put the source code in the same place where you put the "generator script" source code
admin panel / general admin / configuration / general / site description

You mean you want to activate your portal, isn't it?

Read, this carefully, go to:

[1] Admin Panel >> General Admin >> Modules Activation >> Activate the portal - Enable

[2] Save it then refresh your browser or press F5.

[3] To configure your portal, go to:

Admin Panel >> Portal >> Configuration >> Portal generals options >> Show the portal - Yes

[4] Save it.

[5] Now, to set the composition of your portal, go to:

Admin Panel >> Portal >> Portal Structure

This page allow you to customize your portal by placing the modules where you want.
You will see at the bottom "Adding of existing modules". This will allow you to use the existing modules (e.g., statistic, whoisonline, recent_topics, searc, etc.). Or you may able to create your own block. Just click the create custom block.

Finally, when you have done all of these, you may able to see or preview your portal.

Just an insight:
A Portal is an entrance to a place or website. When you access your forum board, it will lead you first to the portal.
In Portal, you may able to customize it to look like a web page index. You can set announcement and news within it.
