Is there a way to place some news on the portal? How do I do that?

You can add a News-module to your portal that shows the latest topic from a specific forum as a preview, if it's that what you mean. Go to "Modules / Portal / Portal Pages Management / Structure" and add the existing module "News" somewhere on your portal (it's already there by default if you haven't changed anything yet).

To modify the settings for this news module, go to "Modules / Portal / Configuration". Smile
