Using external domain as host ? Empty Using external domain as host ?

Post by pushka April 8th 2008, 7:00 am

Does anyone know about DNS/CNAMES/DOMAINS/HOST/NAMESERVERS etc.?

I have an external domain ~ www.sdasyd.com - with godaddy.com $10 a year ~

can I also use the free hosting space with godaddy but have both www.sdasyd.com and http://sdasyd.com point to sdasyd.forummotion.com?

when you sign up to the free host, it automaticaly redirects both, (i got it down to www = forummotion http = host)
both links to the host .. as in if you host index.html in the root, it shows that..

i tried to add aliases for the host, and got it ( host.sdasyd.com ) but i couldnt redirect to sdasyd.forummotion.com from www / http//

i think it would be easier if forummotion forums had IP addresses that worked... like the host...

or is this impossible?

yayy~ thanks

this would be so good, ~ so I could host stuff and be advertising the forum ..

it says that the host of the hosted stuff is " sdasyd.com " and you cant change that.. is that what's wrong?

the host comes with an IP , so you can make an alias/subdomain and in the DNS:

host --- address
host --- 123.456.789 <--IP

..

and then

www @
@ forummotion IP 5465.210.021

but it stuffs up...

you can redirect to forumotion with html forward, but the godaddy advertising comes up before it redirects..

can you do PHP stuff to forward it?

i also have another non-advertising host with HTML redirect - with URL and IP... if that helps..

i know how to link a domain to forummotion.. but
with godaddy.. if you setup a hosting account, your domain links to the hosting account..

i was wondering if you can have both hosting and forwarding...
