not sure if this is a theme problem

hi.

i posted this in another category but no one seems to be answering. i'm not sure if this is a theme problem or technical problem, but here is my original post:

"my forum is on phpbb2 and my theme is xand.

i've noticed that when a new topic or post is made by members, it is not indicated by the topic icon (or "new topic" or "new post" picture") of my theme.

is this only happening to me?"

check the images in your control panel.
admin -> styles -> list of pictures

and check if the buttons are different for each action

yes, its different for each action. i never really changed anything from the original list of pictures.
