HTML code not working at all

Okay, so I'm making some HTML pages for a project of mine. I've got 2 others, and they work just fine. However, I just made a new one, and no matter what code I put in, it doesn't get compiled. It just shows up on the page as the code, not the format. (For example, if I made a sentence bold, it would just show the words and the <b></b> tags.)

And yes, I'm using real HTML. I have an HTML code generator.

when your editing the HTML does it display this image to the top left of the content box

The red one. Does that like, stop HTML from being compiled?

Thats the same problem im having

im not sure but when i do mine im displaying the green one and that always works for me, copy the code onto a text document so you dont loose it and do a test is my best advice. sorry i couldn't be of more help.

Okay, I somehow got it to work. I have no idea how, but here's what I did.

1: Clicked the HTML button so it went from red to green, then green to red. I then got a message (from forumotion) that an error occurred. When I went back to editing, it worked.

EDIT: You know what I think it was? I think I was putting the code in the wrong spot (there's two content boxes: A code one, and a box that shows what the format looks like. I think I was putting it in that one (it's really really hard to tell the difference if you don't already have code formatted in)

Yup, I fixed it (post edited above). It's near impossible to tell the difference between the two boxes, which is why i was having trouble.
