Adding an XAT chat to the homepage?

Does anyone know how this is done? The standard chat box is glitchy (randomly goes blank periodically and is frustrating) on my forum and would like to replace it with an xat. I know that people have done this on myspace and I have heard of it being done in these forums but have not actually seen it.

I just added a new forum and named it "chat box". Then add the xat code in the html box.
Lock the forum so no one can open and post in there.

It might not be the best way but it worked for me.

where would you put it?
on the index?

All I know is that you can put it on the portal or an html page

Just delete the chatbox on the portal
admin panel>modules> portal pages management>structure> create a custom block then paste the codes

click save then return to modules management

Addition/deletion of personal modules
look for the chatbox and click add the module!

yes, you can do that too.
I wish there was a footer box like the one where you put the homepage message.

I made a new navigation link on the top of the forum page wich redirects directly on XAT chat i previously created.

Ok, on my forum site, I am trying to put in a chat box. I am doing what you said, copy the code and paste it in a widget, however, when I put it in the portal, the only thing that shows is the code I pasted into the widget. Can you help me?

Ma use the create a custom blok option and when you create the block put it in the portal :S

That's what I did, but I go to my site and I only see the code, not the actual chat.

if you mean add to teh forums. u can either make it a forum widget or just do wat i did which was make a catagory names 'Chatbox' then make the description the html so it showed up there. then just adjust the size of it to fit.

if it is only the code appearing this means you have to enable the html for the forum

Admin panel>Messages and email>configuration.
click off yest for allow HTML then hit save.
now go to your profile.preferences form the index page and make sure you have always allow html to yes and hit save.

now you xat will appear for you and you can also use any other embed codes or HTML for other things like games or videos
