My own domain name... question
I read the topic in the faq but didn't quite understand it.
I currently own a domain through godaddy. Am I only able to redirect it to my forumotion address?
In other words will it always say (myname.formotion) or will it now say (myname.com)?
I ask, because in the past I've always had to forward my .com name to the new sites nameservers and I don't find the link here anywhere.

Re: My own domain name... question
It costs money to break off from your host site (in this case, forumotion)
And i'm not sure if Forumotion allows you to break off at all. If you want to have your own domain, you'll have to buy your own forum completely and start back from scratch.
I don't think it's that expensive to buy a domain, but it's usually a matter of if Forumotion will allow you to move your forum to it or not.

Well, I have no experience with godaddy, but you can read this tutorial how to generally redirect your forum to your own domain name: [LINK]

Re: My own domain name... question
Where do you find out how to buy a forum and how much in U.S. dollars? That stinks that I have to re-make the forum though.
thanks sunny, but unfortunately that's the link that I didn't understand because it looks completely different over at godaddy.

Re: My own domain name... question
You should not have to buy a forum and remake it. You should be able to redirect it. But I too have not had any experience with godaddy. I will ask around, to see if we can get some answers.
If for some reason godaddy is not compatible in some way, then you would just have to buy 1600 points to purchase a domain thru forumotion, which your current forum can be transferred over to.
As far as I know, these point amounts and prices are still current. I am checking into that right now, but this should give you an idea of how much they will cost.

Re: My own domain name... question
Ok, that's some good info skittle.. thanks
I finally figured out how to redirect my forum through godaddy.
Except now when I enter touchdownblue.com in my browser it goes to my forums... but the name address changes to touchdownblue.forumotion.com.
1) Is there a way to change that without spending 1600 points.
2)If I have to buy 1600 points will it do what I want it to. (Stay touchdownblue.com)

Re: My own domain name... question
