Help Using Variable Codes [SOLVED-- Mod May Close Now!!] Empty Help Using Variable Codes [SOLVED-- Mod May Close Now!!]

Post by vince730 June 7th 2008, 1:52 am

On our Homepage Message, we have many variable codes as a convience for our members to see.

One includes "We have 115 Forums, 151177 Topics, and 1088454 Posts on W4E"

The Problem is whenever I go into the Admin Panel, these codes Change so in the edit box for the Homepage message, the Variables do not show up....but rather the actual numbers so every time I go into the Admin panel I have to change them.

(Note that HTML Editor is Enabled in the Edit Box)

How Do I fix it so every time I go to edit in the Admin panel the Variables stay in place so I do not have to fix them every time?

Try to change the WYSIWYG mode. Above the edit box should be a red HTLM Help Using Variable Codes [SOLVED-- Mod May Close Now!!] Desact-htmlicon. Click it once, so it turns into a green one.

When I do that, I haver no clue where to put my Variables because it is all in HTML.......so does it mean it will always go back to my information if the Help Using Variable Codes [SOLVED-- Mod May Close Now!!] Desact-html Icon is above the Box?

Normally not, it should stay as {variable} regardless of the editor mode - was just a suggestion.

Anyway, after now picking your homepage message's code into pieces, one by one, I think I found the offender. You have somewhere (pretty much at the bottom of your hp message) this element:

<dl onclick="this.getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display=((this.getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display=='none')?'':'none');" style="cursor: pointer;" class="codebox"/>

Not sure what that is supposed to do actually, not even sure if that is correct syntax for that html list item, but erasing this specific part should solve your problem. Smile
