when i do the option:

Update the number of posts from a user and set his number of private messages to 0 :

does my forum post count decrease?

That option just Updates the number of posts a member has. Sometimes you may delete or topics and the number of posts from the members who posted in that topic doesn't decrease and it will display a higher value then the actual number of posts. If you use that option it will resynchronize the number of posts that member has.

The only way to set a members number of posts to 0 is by deleting all of the posts that member made.

you can do that with template editing
