How do I stretch the background-picture of a Forum (not Portal)?
okay, I read to several threads, my eyes burn like hell and I have no real answer.
To clear it up, I'm talking about the BACKGROUND picture of my FORUM, not about Tables, Rows, Portals and that stuff. The picture between my forum and the inlet of my screen. (I say it like this, because ppl asked stupid questions in those threads I've read) Now that we cleared that, to my question. I know that I can change the picture's size to 1024x768 pixels and it's shown well to most of the people. But that is no solution. I know that you can edit in the CSS sheet things like the positions of the image and if it's repeated or not. Therefore there must be an option to edit if it's stretched or not. I'd say background-width or so. But I don't know.
The best that I could use would be if I can stretch the picture in x-direction and repeat it in y-direction. So, if you know the code, spill it out!

I don't want to resize the pictures. I want that in the CSS code is that it shall be stretched so it fits in every resolution, you know?
Otherwise I could do on my own...

From what I know a similar feature will be introduced with CSS 3 (background-size). All current browsers do yet only support CSS 2, so you have to wait until that will be standart for all browsers. With the current possibilities, you can repeat your background and define it's position.
A general trick would be to have a centered, vertical repeating image that fades into a specific color to the right and left. This color should be the background color as well (that means, if your bg-image ends, the background color will be visible). That way you have a background with a nice transition on every resolution.
