control panel different (?!)

I'm probably being really dim here

We are a large forum, currently running phpbb version 2 but upgrading to 3 on Tuesday.
As we will be offline for a while the database is moved, I have created a temporary forumnotion forum.

The temporary forum is great, we love it and it has all the cool features we wanted, for example, quick reply and merge posts etc.

However, last week we did a test upgrade of the main forum, and although its version 3, like the temporary one, it looks really different.

I take it the forumnotion one has already got some mods, like the chatbox and merge topics etc.
but I am wondering why the admin panel in the version 3 upgrade does not have "simple" and "advanced" like the forumnotion one does... and generally looks really different.

I know I'm probably being really dim here but I expected the admin panels to look the same, minus the mods.

LOL I did think that, I hate doing it, but then I had no clue what to put as its quite hard to explain... I will try though

Well, the forumotion one, is somewhat "cutomized". It isn't the default phpbb3 one which is used by most free hosts.

Thanks for your reply, how do I get the "simple" and "advanced" modes in the admin panel, do you know?
Is that a mod in itself?

I believe it has been custom added and configured into the Forumotion Admin Panel. I do not think it is a downloadable modification.

Thats a shame I wish we could have it for our main forum when we upgrade
