Scrolling new topics

I have seen on some forums a box with scrolling new topics in. I would like to add to my forum, but I have no idea how to do it, and does it involve widgets and things, as I dont understand them?!!

If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

I believe that you are talking about a Portal, I am having trouble with that myself.

Yes, perhaps Portal, I dont understand either Portal or Widgets!! but like the scrolling latest topics, and if someone could take me through it, that would be great.

Why should it be locked? There's no solution presented. I'm still wondering what the answer is?

I have managed to find out how to do it.........I just 'activated' the widgets and the latest topics were automatically scrolling.

ok...thanks. Does it show new topics since you last logged in? new topics in the last 24hrs? new posts? or recent topics?

you can adjust it to show however many posts you want, I have it set to 12.

Admin Panel/Modules/Forum Widgets Management/and Recent Topics, then adjust how many of the recent topics you want to view in the scrolling section. Hope that makes sense.

ok, sort of. But are they just the most recent (chronologically) topics? or posts?

Or can you choose to show the last 12 new topics (does that make sense?)
