They're like the Admin and mod groups, you can give them certain privs or let them see things that others can't it all depends on what you want each group to be able to do/see.

You can make it so a part of the forum is visible to a group, you can make it so as ranks get higher the usergroups can see it, etc. I'm using it connecting to ranks to benefit more posting- (confusing, I know.)

You have to make a usergroup and make it either closed or hidden. Then you add the members you want to that usergroup. Then you edit the permissions for whatever Category or Forum you want to restrict access to and make it read/write visible to only that group.

If you leave the group as Open, it will appear in the Usergroups tab on the menu and anyone can request access to it.

Did you put members in the group? It might (I'm not certain) not be active until there are members in it. Just a guess.

yep i did. View the forum, Read the topics, Reply a message, Edit its own messages, Delete its own messages, Vote, Open a topic and Create a poll are all the actions that i can't change for a usergroup.

Create a sticky message, Create an announcement, Create an event(calendar) and Moderate are the only one's i can change for usergroups.

That's strange. Maybe one of the mods can refer this to a technician for you. I don't understand that at all. Sorry.
