Re: vista and calculating time
I know that Vista used to have a copy-time problem, but that exceeds everything I was expecting.

Re: vista and calculating time
it is SP1 ... its the first time its happened...
I think its because of the DVD... it had a couple scratches ... and the DVD reader started choking as thus a 97 year wait ...
i didn't manage to make a screenshot later on... when it was 46k days and 0 hours

Re: vista and calculating time
That's normal.. What? You haven't got 94 years to spare?
What on earth were you copying anyway?

Re: vista and calculating time
If the system get jammed because your using to many resources then it calculates only the length of time it would take in that one moment it jams, giving you 94 years so on and so on
To stop this happening
1. Press "CTRL" + "Shift" + "ESC"
2. Locate "Explorer.exe"
There will be two at this point.
3. Select the one using the most memory and press "End Process"
This may stop the copying however try to copy it straight away and it "should" copy faster
remember to end process's that slow the system down before copying large amounts of data
You can also stop services to speed up copying
Superfetch
This is a utility that maintains and improves system performance over time. However it will index all resources slowing down the system.
To disable Superfetch
1. Click Start, type Services in the Start Search box, and then click Services in the search results at the top of the Start menu.
2. Locate the service Superfetch, Right click and select Properties
3. Under Startup Type select Disable and Stop the service
4. Click Apply and Ok and you should notice a change in your system speed
