Massive problems in skin editing
I dont know if this is something already answered or anything, but I have just started a forum and have been trying to edit the skin's colors. There are 2 major errors on that page. problem 1: The preview window blocks my view so I try to move it. When I do the window sticks to the mouse and I cant get rid of it without closing the internet. Problem 2: On the color select window, when I click the color it chooses isnt where I click but rather far off, and even worse almost every time that click closes the window without letting me save the change. Please answer soon and sorry if this was something recently answered elsewhere but I can't find it.
Re: Massive problems in skin editing
Does the mouse sticking happen only on forumotions? or whereever you go on the net? Only when you try to use the editor? or anywhere on your board?
To start off with, if you are using a ball type mouse, try cleaning the ball, the ball picks up lint with dirt and more as you move it around the table/desk. And your mouse will stick, start and stop.
I would do a deep clean of your computer, then scan for viruses, spyware and ad ware. There are many free programs out there you can use. Then a scan disk and defrag should make your computer work tons better.

I just did some scans. First off, it is only in the editor here on Forumotions. I use an optical mouse, and my computer is virus and spyware free. I am an admin on other forums of other boards and I do not have this problem there, but I woulld rather not wind up having to use those other servers for this site as I prefer the custimization available here.
Any other ideas?

Re: Massive problems in skin editing
In the administration panel for my forum, there is the color editor. Under that, there is a preview of how the color change will affect the forum. I dislike where it is since it blocks the color select windows so I try to move it, however, it gets stuck to the cursor. Whereever the cursor goes, it goes, so I cannot do anything and I cant get it to stop. On top of that, the color select windows are messed up. If I click in a certain color in the field, it chooses a different spot i the field and then closes the select windoe without letting me save any changes. Once in a while this doesnt happen, but it is becoming too big a hassle to edit my forum due to this bug.
I don't know how to go any more in-depth than that.

just click on the preview after you move it to where it isnt in the way. Yes, it is a horrible set up

Oh I see, yes the mover sticks every once in a while on my board as well. Thing is you must see the mover then left click to paste it where ever you want. It will not paste if you cannot see the movers x/cross, so the panel will move wherever you mouse moves.
As for the color coding, if you created your own theme in css, you have to change the code color through css, changing the color in the colors section does not work for me either, since I have created my theme through css.
Just a thought

Using a "click and pick" color editor is really not advisable. You'd be much better off entering the color codes directly, using something like .THIS.
There is also a neat tool you can get off the web for free named "Pixie Color Picker". Puts a little eyedropper on screen that you can put over any color on the screen and read the RGB and HTML color codes. Just google for it.

Re: Massive problems in skin editing
Actually I found the problem. For some reason IE was causing the error. I switched to Firefox and now it works fine. Anyway thanks for the support, and I think I will use that color method from now on as well Saurus.
