I only just started. Please help...

Google smilies and they should come up all you need too do it save the smilie too your computer then upload it from smilies on your admin panel

display
smilies
add new smilies
put in smilie code and name it,
Smilie Image File : click browse and select the smilie you want
and then save

This may be a dumb question, but how do I save the smileys to my computer?

I can get a smiley into my post with the url from planetsmileys, but I can't add the smiley to my forum smiley menu - the instructions above from kerry are great... but I'm missing how to do the first one: save the smiley.

Okay, I figured it out, my smileys are all loaded, but I have a new problem: wherever I am in the post I'm writing, when I click to add a smiley, it is inserted at the end of the message.

I can highlight it and drag it about.. but how come it won't insert where the cursor is?

I deleted some smileys due to content, how does one reinstall all these smileys? there are 5 sets, since I do not personally know each smiley by name, there's no way to reinstall insert them this way. Is there a backup plan for this?
