Transport Infastructure being built near you.
I open this topic to ask what major transport infastructure is being built in your local city/town/area.
I will first start with Transport in Brisbane:
Recently built:
Eleanor Schonell Bridge- December 2006
Inner Northern Busway- Around 2004
Inner City Bypass- Opened in stages in 2002
South East Busway- Inner city section opened 2001, the longer part to the outer suburbs opened 2002.
Under Construction & Proposed:
Northern Busway: Connects INB to the northern suburbs. Opens part 1 in 2011, fully open in 2026 (?).
Inner Northern Busway extension: The final link from Roma St to the QSBS. Opens 2008.
North South Bypass Tunnel (NSBT): A 4.7km tunnel from the southern suburbs to the northern suburbs, opens 2012.
Boggo Road Busway- Opens 2009
Eastern Busway- Opens 2012
South East Busway extension: Under planning. Unknown completion date.
Hale St Bridge: VERY controversial. Meant to direct traffic off the Riverside Expressway, GREAT concern because heaps of traffic could go past a high school.
Out of Brisbane infastructure:
Bruce Highway Upgrade- finished in 2008
Ipswich Mwy upgrade- unknown completion, still being debated in Federal and State governments
Gold Coast light rail: Unknown completion
And there is so much going on in the Sunshine Coast I cannot begin to say it all...

Typical typical typical. During resurfacing works on one of Brisbanes bridges, the workers dug too deep, effecting the supports, closing lanes and causing traffic issues.
Very deja vu'ish, the same thing happened for the Riverside Expressway.
When will they learn???? (!!!???)

Yes the council has got a pretty bad history.. but at least the future is a tiny bit positive. Our current mayor who was elected in 2004, is better than the past councils..
