pay for skins?

Is there a buy skins bit where you can upload your skins but people have to buy them and the creator gets the money?

I've actually got that in plans, i want to make premium themes that will be paid for, they'll custom made for 1 site only and they shall run of my private server

thats a great idea.

EDIT: would it be like hitskin where any designer can make the skins? (obviously you would need to review each one to make sure its good enough)

i dont think that that would run well because the point of a "free forum hoster" is to have most if not all of its features open for free.

I think its a good idea and I have asked alot of people about this and they have mostly said if the skins are good they will pay.

obviously there will still be free ones too

But yes, it would become 20% of the Forum hitskin.

hmmm how much effort can you put into a skin

i dont think that effort will buy anyone money

I know of alot of sites that sell their forum skins from £10 - £65 So there is definitely a market for it

I also agree, I think some hard working graphic designers deserve to be paid for there work, as it is an art I think and some kind of appreciation should be shown to the artists as well, just my view anyway.

OK... as of today i have permission to host a theming and customization service.
@ dragonfir ... the forum host has pretty much nothing to do with it. All i need is permission to allow selling a product on forumotion. I have gotten that permission today. A free forum host is just the forum...nothing more... even on phpbb.com or any forum provider all you get free is the forum and mods... themes can be bought, server space can be bought and FTP too. So under the term free forum, you get a forum... all additions as a theme can be paid for completely legally.

each forum provider has their own premium themes... and now i hope forumotion will have one too.

I am going to start a topic in the general discussion, conserning how many members will be interested.

But till date... I have got all the legal business out of the way... I am closing matters with paypal, which shall be the base payment method, and I still need to build a business plan, regulations and all disclaimers.

If all goes according to plan... I should have the themeing site up, by the end of the month.
Just remember, i'll be the only one themeing, until I find some really good themers, at tip top, premium quality.

Yeah i've been having thoughts on this also.
