Confusion with points and activity points

I'm very confused between the points and acitivity points. Are there benificial rights to it, do 100 activity points equal 100 points?

Please explain.

no, the activity points only effect your standing in the forumotion directory, the points let you buy things for your forum.

The points are used to rate the activity of your forum.Those type of points are automatically given for new members registering, new posts, new topics. These points help your forum on the Forumotion directory. The more points you have, the higher your forum ranking will be. These points can also decrease if you delete members,posts, topics. You can check the points your forum currently has by going to admin panel=>Display=>Homepage=>Generalities and look for the "Forums directory" section. You will see the Forum Category that your forum is currently registered on and below it you will see the number of points your forum currently has.If you can't see the number of points then it means your forum doesn't participate in the Forumotion directory. To participate simply change this option "Participate in Forums directory" to Yes.

The other type of points are called credits.Those can only be obtained by buying them via PayPal or Allopass.You can use credits to increase the storage space of the gallery, buy a personalized domain name, remove the ads or edit templates. You can buy credits by going to admin panel=>Misc=>Credits management=>Buy credits.

How do they "help" and what is the directory for?

I've seen the directory, my forums ranking on it and all that good stuff but what does it all mean/do?
