How can we show the LATEST POSTS on index.html on a website

hi all

I have been googling for weeks for this solution but still nothing. I want to show the latests posts of my forum to my index.html webpage so the users visiting that site can get a little bit involved on forum as well.

And where can we get $dbname and $dbuser and $dbpassword does the forum admin give that away?
