New way to view new posts
Is it possible to have a option on our fourms to view the last 100 posts. My members are asking for a easier way to view unread posts. As times some posts they are reading are getting missed by the current method.
Re: New way to view new posts
You can tell them to click view active topics, and it will show them the new posts.

Re: New way to view new posts
there should be small writting just above the first topic/catergory, that says
View posts since last visit • View your posts • View unanswered posts
Tell them to click posts since last visit. That will show them all active posts since they were last online.
Or you can create a NEW POSTS button like I have. It sits in your navigation bar.

I have made them aware of those, but some members are losing posts when they reload or refresh.
How do you create a NEW POST button? This might help them.
Some members find the navigation different then most forums and I am trying to make it easier navigation.
Re: New way to view new posts
I'm guessing they are comparing it to V-Bulletin. Most of my members also come from a parenting sort of website and they are all V-Bulletin run.
To make a new posts button, you need to find someone to make you a NEW POSTS button to put in your nav bar... one that looks the same as all your other buttons, you know, the ones that say Home, Profile, Portal, etc etc
Then go to Admin control panel > Display tab> Headers & navigation
In nav links you need to create your own link...
To do this, I first clicked on that View posts since last visit • and then copied the web address that came up after doing so, as that is the active search web address and result.
Click under Nav Links 'Add a customized Menu'
Here you will fill in the details, like what name you want to give it, what name to show if your picture is not ready yet, and an area to put your image code into if you do have it. Also paste in the web address from the search you did just before.
Make sure everyone but guests [I see your forum is private so thats why I say not guests] is ticked in rights, and nothing ticked for display
Click save. Your button should now be working on the nav bar. Click preview profile to see. If you do not have a button yet, you can just use basic WORDS there untill you do, the words you put in when making the customized menu will show instead.
If you need any more help with this, let me know.
Also if your friends use safari or Opera, it's known not to work as well as FireFox or Internet explorer with the new posts function.
