Fake accounts...?

Is there a code or something I could use to track IP addresses?... There seems to be someone that wants to be funny and make new (fake) accounts. How can I fix this?

so far the only way I've found to do anything about fake accounts is to ban each of them as they show up or when I fine out about it. I'm not sure if there is a way to stop someone from making fake accounts based on IP addy.

Post a message saying who ever is making fake accounts will be banned and try looking at the email address.

I'm still suffering from this problem. They forum site is public and I know that it isn't anyone from my site. It is obvious to me that the e-mail addresses are fake because of the ones they use. A forum moderator or admin would be appreciated in this thread.

You should set account activation to "Members" so they have to validate the email address by activating the account via the URL in the email that is sent to them.

If they provide a fake email address, the email message wouldn't arrive, so they can't activate their account and post messages.

Thank you for the information Scamite and others. I'm 95% sure that I know who it is. I am pretty sure I could get their IP address and now I am curious to know if/how I can block an IP address. Thanks.

If you're either the founder or an admin of your forum then yes, you can get and ban the IP in the "Ban Contol".

To do so...
IP ban Admin panel>>User s& Groups>> Ban Control>> Insert IP address you want to ban in the 2nd box>>hit save below bottom box>>IP address banned.
Email ban Admin panel>> Users & Groups>>Ban Control >> click the "email ban" in gray next to the "IP bann" in green.>>Insert email address>>click add>>email address banned.
