Once you have the code generated by google adsense. Copy it.

In your admin panel,

Display>Homepage>generalities
Under the homepage message frame,
Message content : "Add the code that you copied, hit save"

See if it works.

Yes you can put it on portal or sidebar (widget) its same process with addig it on homepages section Smile

Try read this useful FAQ to know how to add new customize block on portal & widget.
