Solved How to link a LARGE banner & resize it to show on your forum?

Post by Brad38 1st January 2009, 19:18

Hello dear members,

I recently had a problem about posting another websites' banner on my forum and was guided on how to do this. See this topic: https://help.forumotion.com/script-code-problems-f43/how-do-you-put-someone-s-website-banner-on-your-forum-t33351.htm Now, I would like to link another websites banner to my forum, but the website banner is quite large and not standard size for linking.

My question is, can I somehow incorporate a code that will resize the banner to the size I want? I'm under the understanding that most website banners are approx 468 x 60 pixels in size. The banner I would like to display on my portal is much larger than this and wouldn't display nicely.

Any help, suggestions and/or tips are most welcome.....thank you very much. Smile

I don't know about any codes, but photobucket has simple resizing features. The image has to be hosted anyways...might as well just use photobucket.
(unless it is animated then there is an issue with photobucket)
Also other graphics programs like GIMP are free and you could resize.

I only know photobucket, too, but you'll have to upload it, then resize, then upload on servimg.com and I think you know how to put the banner up Smile

scratch you can host any image whether banner, affiliate badge etc by using photobucket
you don't HAVE to upload to servimg

Brad,
if none of those ideas work and you want me to re-size it for you, it wouldn't be a problem.
just give me the size and file format you want

well if you just lazy to resize it using picture editing or online image resizing method, you always can resize it using html code Smile

Code:
<a href="http://your picture link.com"><img src ="your picture url" width="480px" height="80px" ></a>

Thanks everyone for your replies and help. I honestly didn't know I could resize the banner myself and host it on a 3rd party site. I thought that the banner gif had to be on the website itself in order to use it properly. I do know how to resize pictures though. Smile

Thanks for all the help, will let you know if/when I get this to work...gonna try now. Smile

Ok, I got it to work thanks again everyone!!!!! Very Happy:)Very Happy cheers
