You need to create a new group and manually place the members into that group. Then the group will show up in the permissions. Just allow the group permission to that forum and block regular members.

Hey guys,

Is it possible to ban a member from a certain section of the forum? If so how can this be done?

Create a group, that is hidden. Add that user to that group. Go into the forum permissions, don't give him permission to view that forum. Wink

I think, you untick everything for it isn't it? Also, you will need all your members in the members group. Because the default member group has the hierarchy issues, so without the group of members, when you select members all other groups also are selected. I hope you understand what i mean. Without creating a members group, its not possible to achieve what you want to.

Ah ok thanks. I think I understand.

So I make a hidden group called "members." Then I put all my members (bar - admins/mods) into that group?

Yes, you got me right. I know it would have been much easier, if that members in the forum permission did not have that setting of having a hierarchy. There would not have been any need of making any group for members.
But yes, you can make a group members which is hidden.

If you still have any issues just let me know, we will work it out Wink

Alrighty, I'll give it a go, fingers crossed it works.

Also is there any way to make it so members don't receive an email when they are added to the group??
