Importing an existing forum

I am in the middle of creating a replacement forum for an existing forum that the host wishes not to continue supporting as he is shutting down his business. At the bottom of the page there is this --

Images were made by DEVPPL Photoshop Forum

Can the entire forum be copied over? If so, what should the proper method be? We are trying not to lose many years of history.

But, can you not export the database and import it on another forum YOU HOST yourself?

You are not allowed to import your forum to forumotion. This helps prevent anyone harming forumotions services.
