Need a CSS code to create a gap between navigation buttons and forums

Can someone provide a simple code that will create a space of a few lines between the navigation buttons (Home, Portal, Calendar etc.) and the welcome message and forums?

Hi . . there is/was a code for REMOVING space between the nav bar. I am using Invision and there is the problem of too much space between the buttons. I want to use something like this: Where it appears the buttons are connected . . . at this time, this *no space* menu is not possible in Invision.
