You know when you just created a forum, There are two groups automatically created, Admin and Moderators. You have to put your moderators in that Moderator group. Only then it will work. You can't just simply create a normal group and name it Moderator. It doesn't work like that.

Solved Re: Permittions and Special rights

Post by designersgr March 10th 2009, 8:41 pm

magicm00n thanks ! but maybe is something you didn't understand!

There are two groups automatically created, Admin and Moderators and i made another one named it "VIP's", and the members group....

So i have 4 groups in my forum.... i want give the Permittion to moderators group to see the calendar and the members group! I can do that, only in the ACP->members and groups ->special rights ! right? blackeye

So i choose that only moderators have accsses to see the members group, and the calendar! but they can't!!!!!! :/

They can only if i choose "members" but on this way, the members, have the permition to accsses calendar and members group! Permittions and Special rights Mouais

Another one... Shocked (never stops Very Happy ) if somebody knows.... How can i give the permition to modaretors to edit the members profile??? is that possible??? Permittions and Special rights Mouais

Solved Re: Permittions and Special rights

designersgr, you can go to
General >Categories And forums

Click on any forum name.

permissions tab
there you can give the ability for someone to create an event.(Calendar)

Now talking about viewing the calendar, if you in the special rights option make it for members, you give the right for all the members including moderators & admins.
When you select moderators, it gives right to moderators & admins.(Moderators here will include your moderator & VIP member group, if they are moderating any forum)

SO on & so forth. Hope you understood.

Link to your forum? For your calendar issue. I am not sure what is happening.

Also, since you created a group through group adminsitratrion. Make the group hidden so that normal members are not able to view it.

To edit the complete default profile, moderators don't have that permission. Except for commenting.
If you have created a personalized profile field, you can select who can modify these
Who can modify the profile field value ?: Select Moderators.

1) So the moderators can see the calendar button, but are not able to see it?
Also did you add a calendar widget?
2) You mean the memberlist?
3) Thats not possible, until your remove the image of profile through display>Pics Management
4) General>Messages & Emails
Message edition duration limit for a member : Add here 2 minutes probably. So that they are able to edit their previous post. Or maybe 5 minutes, whatever you see suitable.
5) Not possible to do Sorry.

1) Calendar widget on the navbar? You mean button right?
2)I think it has been happening with many members. It could be because of the updates.
3) Yes if you do that, you will have to see the profile from the admin panel. So better not to do it.
4) Its for everyone i think.

1) This too could be because of the updates.
2) You need to just wait, it will sort out.
4) So then the setting which i told, dont allow users to edit.

Then go to General>Categories & Forums
Click on any forum name
Permissions tab
Then set it so that the groups of moderators, Vip's etc can edit their posts.
