Navigating to the most recent post in a thread

I've looked through this forum, and I haven't quite come across the answer to my question:

Is there a way for members to read the latest posts in a thread once they click on it? Without having to scroll down and look for themselves? (I know, lazy, but I'm curious.)

I know that you can "View the latest posts," but when you click on one of said posts, you are shown the top of the thread, and the first (chronological) post in that thread. I'm wondering if there's a setting in the Admin panel or a widget or something that will take readers/members to the most recent post they've not yet read. Is there?

If you want the newest post in a thread to be on top, you can set that with the "Sort the posts of a topic by :"
In the admin panel >General> categories and forums> click the forum you want to modify. choose how to sort the posts with the drop down menu.

You have to do it for each forum individually.

Yes, I do know that ... That's not exactly what I'm looking for, as I tried that and my members complained.

It would have been turned on for subforums as well.
