User group legend problems.
Hello, my problem is as follows.
I have modified the user groups through the Admin Panel and edited Admin and Moderator and added a few more groups.
At the bottom of my forum, I can see the User Group Legend. However, even after editing it still shows the default groups, names and colours.
Its probably something very obvious I am missing out on doing, so sorry for wasting your time if so. I looked for a topic but couldn't see one.
Thanks In Advance,
Dean

Re: User group legend problems.
Hello,
Do this to Modify the group to make it show it the Legend.
Here the full Tutorial for this if you need it.
Do this to Modify the group to make it show it the Legend.
Modifying a Group
To modify a group you need to
go to the same location again "Users and Groups >> Groups
Administration. You will see a page that looks like the below screen
shot. It shows all your groups. To modify any of the groups, click the
modify cog in the actions column, of the group you want to modify. Click save when done.
Spoiler:
Group Permissons
To
set group permissions you need to go to admin>>>users and
groups>>>groups. To see and set the permissions of any group,
you will see in the actions column (screen shot above), beside the
modify cog, a plus and tick symbol .
Clicking that will take you to the permissions page like the screen
shot below. You can then select which forums your group will moderate,
if any. Click save when finished.
Approving/Denying and Removing Group Members
When
a member requests to join a group you moderate, you will be sent an
email informing you with a link you can click that will take you to the
group requested. Alternatively you can check your groups at any time,
by clicking the 'usergroups' link or button in your forum navigation
bar. This will then show you a list of all the groups that have been
made (excluding hidden ones if you are not the administrator). You can
click on any group to see its members and at the very bottom of the
group page you will see any requests to join your group as shown in the
screen shot below. You can then choose wether to accept or deny a
member.
To
remove a member, you would need to click on usergroups in the
navigation menu and choose the group you want to remove members from.
Click it and then check the boxes of any members you want to remove and
click the remove button. Alternatively you are able to go to "Admin
Panel >> Users and groups >> Groups" and click modify in
the actions column. Under the group configuration will be a list of the
group members. You can again check the box for any you want to remove
and click save.
Showing your Group in the Legend
Your
group will only appear in the legend if the groups status is either
open or closed. Hidden will NOT show up. Also it will only show if
colour group members was chosen when making your group. If you are
certain that both these settings have been chosen, go to "Users &
Groups / User Options" in your admin panel and set "Colorize usernames"
to YES.
Here the full Tutorial for this if you need it.

Re: User group legend problems.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I have done all of that, thats the thing I'm saying.
When you view the forum, at the bottom of the page it still shows default groups.
The created groups, work fine and I can add/chuck members through the Admin Panel.
Is there a way of removing the groups legend at the bottom of the forum page instead?
If not, it would be useful to know how to make the bottom of the forum page update what the groups are now.
Thanks again.

Is your forum Hidden?
Open & Closed will put your group in the Legend
Hidden will not
Also can you take a screen shot of the setting of your Group?

Thanks.

The Modify mode
I have one here to show you just in case.
The Color Group Members Should be Ticked
That should make the group show.

Not the Hidden as I know it will not be in the Legend.
The ones that are closed that aren't showing in the Legend.

Re: User group legend problems.
Hello,
Have you tried these groups as 'open' as opposed to 'closed' for the purpose of trial & error checking?
Also, what version is your forum using right now?

Re: User group legend problems.
thank you for that information.
ok, both me and MrMario have been talking, and the only possible things that could work out, failed to achieve a near desired outcome
So, I think this is a problem that Typlo has to refer to the techs to help you.
I'm sorry, that we have been unable to help out, I wish we could.

Okay, did you do this?
Users & groups>Users Options
Colorize usernames : : Check it to yes, without doing that the groups wont appear on the legend.

Re: User group legend problems.
Well, a few days back a member had a similar problem. Even after the tutorial was provided, that person had forgotten to do what everything said. Thats the reason, thought about making sure he did that.

Re: User group legend problems.
Its a perfectly logical thing to do Sanket, I would of done the same thing, if Mario didnt PM me asking for my assistance.
I need more than 2 groups in legend! This thread?
Been there, done that.
Nothing is in-correct about the CSS
Everything is normal for PunBB
And that's the problem, everything is normal, nothing is out, its too perfect!

Thanks for all the help though.
Just one more question, how can I stop guests viewing the board that aren't registered?
